Samoa
At 0030 in the morning on August 5th we aligned the leading lights for Apia harbour and started in under a half moon. Suddenly the leading lights were obscured by bright lights we assumed were on the port dock. We quickly realized, however, that we were sharing the channel with a very large tanker heading right towards us.Never a dull moment on Sea Star. It as a tiring passage from Canton Island with savage squalls followed by no wind. Our engine was acting up so part of our daily routine was a diesel bath as we bled air from the fuel system. Plan is to rest and recuperate for a week in Apia and then sail on to Savaii, then Wallis Island and Fiji.
