Wallis Island
After a week in Savaii Island we said goodbye to fellow Quadra sailors on Tess as they headed to Tonga.
Tess leaving Savaii for Tonga
We left soon after and spent two nights at sea before arriving at Wallis Island. Our digital charts and our paper charts had a difference of opinion as to the location of the reef passage. When we finally located the pass we got a line around our prop, so turned around and headed out to sea to sort out the problem. The skipper went overboard with a knife and snorkel, trying not to get bonked on the head as the boat bounced in the waves. When the prop was free we entered the pass on an ebb tide, bucking a three knot current with whirlpools. We finally anchored off Gahe in 7 meters and had a well-earned nap.Plans are to stay almost a week and then head on to Fiji for more boat repairs. The joys of cruising.
