After a ten day passage from Goa we arrived in the Sultanate of Oman. After refueling and buying a ton of fresh water for $6 we rented a car and drove along the coast from Salalah. Much of Salalah looks like it was built in the last decade, with banana plantations hidden amongst white-washed buildings. The desert came complete with camels and old forts.

Due to a recent pirate attack involving two boats we met in Cochin(see noonsite.com and click on Yemen pirate attack link) our trip to Aden was extremely tense. There were three more piracy incidents in the area as we were enroute but we safely travelled down the middle of the Gulf of Aden.
