A cold winter has been warmed by many new friendships.</div> <div>  </div> <div> We went hiking with the Abbey Bookshop Hiking Group on a day when nearly half of the 39 hikers were Canadian. We've explored  Paris sewers, jazz clubs, the Louvre, and the Natural History Museum. So far we have survived Mad Chicken disease and many  demonstrations. Recently, while we were saying goodbye to a friend, chanting from 700,000 marchers protesting labour laws rose and fell like surf.
