Arrival in Scotland
Updated August 10,2006
The good news is that when parts for the saildrive arrived one noon, a very capable mechanic fixed the problem by dinner. Thanks to Yanmar Norway the warranty repair went smoothly.
large mechanic, small space
The same day the transmission was being repaired, MJ travelled 3 hours up to Stavanger by train to put the ship's cat, Cinders, on the plane to Heathrow. UK quarantine regulations prevent pets coming into the country by private boat so Cinders flew to Heathrow. Sailing friends very kindly picked up Cinders from the airport and delivered him to the Alpine Hotel for Cats, where he lolled about while we thrashed our way for three days across the North Sea to Scotland .
