When we fired up the engine to leave Whitehaven there was no cooling water. Cleaned the raw water strainer, but still no water. Only when I took the hose off the thru-hull, did I find the eel that had taken up residence...

It took us two tries to get to the Isle of Man as bad weather forced us back the first time.

After the castle tour we stopped at the nautical museum.
 home of the Peggy, an island trading boat built in 1789,that was hidden away and only "re-discovered" in 1935
Our museum guide, Billy Stowell, told us about life onboard Manx squareriggers. Telling one story about a woman who grew up a tea clipper, he finished by asking Emma, "wouldn't you like to run away to sea ?" "I have, " replied Emma.
